The Dynamic Trio: BLK/OPL Nigeria, Aminat Ayinde and TV Station, Fashion One Africa Collaboration

To be a BLK/OPL woman is to be confident, it’s for every shade of beauty. BLK/OPL Nigeria was proud to be a part of the collaboration with a major fashion TV station in Nigeria, Fashion One Africa, as the official makeup sponsor for an upcoming editorial shoot featuring Aminat Ayinde, a top finalist at the America’s Next Top Model season 12. Aminat is known for her strong bold looks which has gotten her major deals with prestigious brands in the industry such as the Mercedes Fashion Week, This Day Style, Baku Magazine, to mention a few. Four beautiful looks were created by Uche Enyokwa, head makeup artist at Sutchay (@Sutchay on Instagram) for BLK/OPL Nigeria. He has been affiliated with brands like Glam Africa Fashion, Orange Culture, House of Jahdara and Media Room Hub so it was only right to partner with him.

For the first look, we went for a dramatic but soft look which was achieved using the BLK/OPL TRUE COLOR crème stick foundation in “Ebony Brown” because of its good, buildable coverage and perfect finish. The TOTAL COVERAGE concealing foundation had an amazing blending for highlight and contour and was perfected with the deluxe finishing powder in “Deep” to dry up excess oil from her skin. The BLK/OPL COLORSPLURGE risqué crème lipstick in “Bon Bon” and BLK/OPL COLORSPLURGE patent lips in “Nude Scene” were used to create the nude glossy lips.

We switched things up for the second look with the bold red lips to match her melanin skin tone using the BLK/OPL COLORSPLURGE risqué matte lipstick in “Rich Red”.

For the final look, we mirrored the boss lady with Aminat wearing a ponytail coupled with a reddish orange lip color using the BLK/OPL COLORSPLURGE patent lips in “Orange Blaze” and a touch of the BLK/OPL COLORSPLURGE risqué matte lipstick.

What Went Down At LBFW With BLK OPL Nigeria

BLK OPL proved true to its slogan “for shades of beauty” at the Lagos Bridal Fashion week 2018, which was held at the Balmoral Event Center, Federal Palace Hotel, from the 4^th – 6^th of May 2018. With a full face bridal glam from BLK OPL, the models graced the runway clad in gorgeous wedding attires the from various designers exhibiting at the event.

The BLK OPL Nigeria team was tasked with creating nude but extremely glamorous looks for the 51 models comprising of both male and female through-out the duration of the event. The looks were polished, yet they had a classic old time feel to them: a modern take on glamour.

Tolani Aremu, one of BLK OPL Nigeria brand ambassadors, had this to say: ‘The team focused on creating traditional looks which were very fresh with powdered, soft, light contouring and bronzing along the cheek bones. All the BLK OPL product range is amazing and we made great use of the BLK OPL Even True Foundation and the BLK OPL Total Coverage Concealer for the skin work. Our top pics were the BLK OPL Color Splurge Brow Shaper to define the brows and the BLK OPL Crème Luxe Lipstick to give the ladies that alluring look”.

The BLK OPL Pore Perfecting Primer was there to save the day, keeping the makeup in place through-out the day and The Ultra matte foundation powder was instrumental in creating the runway looks. It was all shades of beauty as BLK OPL Nigeria hosted Lagos’ finest Makeup enthusiasts in celebration of the “BLK OPL Launch Party” on March 7, 2018 at the Lagos Continental Hotel V.I. The event was put together to celebrate the brand’s transition to a sleeker, more sophisticated look to reach out to the next generation of beauties, featuring bold square compacts, bottles and tubes that are emblazoned with the BLK/OPL logo. The brand also used the opportunity to introduce the all new TRUE COLOR ULTRA MATTE FOUNDATION POWDER. This versatile formulation foundation powder can be applied wet or dry and is suitable, for all skin types and its versatile formulation allows for buildable coverage with matte finish.

The event which was hosted by MTV VJ K’ola, kicked off with a brief introduction of the brand and a short speech by CEO Kuddy Cosmetics, Mrs Kudirat Fashola. Kuddy cosmetics is the official distributor of BLK OPLproducts in Nigeria, with various outlets in Lagos and all major cities within the country.Mr. Dheshan Naidu a representative of BLK OPL, took us through the transition of the BLK OPL brand through the years and did the honors of introducing the new TRUE COLOR ULTRA MATTE FOUNDATION POWDER with Tolani Artistry, one of the brand ambassadors of BLK OPL in Nigeria on hand to go through a quick demo of how the products work.

10 models with different makeup looks put on an amazing display of creativity as they gave a show stopping catwalk to up tempo music with Kennis Music’s DJ Butterr on the music deck. The looks were created by the Blk Opl Nigeria’s official brand ambassadors, Lillian Paul and Tolani Artistry.

On inspiration behind the looks, Tolani Artistry had this to say, I wanted to showcase the versatility and coverage of the foundation, concealer and powder range. I also paired some of the looks with bold lip colors on the models to illustrate the vibrant colors within the color splurge lip line. Additionally, I wanted to represent how fantastic the finish of each skin product and powder was especially in the Nigerian climate.

And what is a party without a glass of cocktail in hand!!! Baileys Nigeria, was present to make sure everyone had a glass of their creamy goodness. Sweet kiwi also provided a cup of some delicious Froyo for everyone.

The event was well attended by various beauty enthusiasts such Kehinde Smith, Idia Aisien, Dodos, Anita Brows, Abimbola Craig, Afua Osei, Michelle Dede, Mimi Onalaja, Beverly Naya, Chiamaka Ntia, Yewande Thorpe, Powede Lawrence, Ezinne Alfa (Beauty in Lagos) and a host of others.
