Banky W and Tunde Demuren

Banky W

Wedding venue: THE ROUNDHOUSE, CAMPS BAY

The Roundhouse rests in the valleys of Table Mountain, steeped in a rich history as old as the Cape itself. With its sweeping views of Camps Bay and the expansive Atlantic, it was ideally situated to safeguard the Cape of Storms from attack. It seemed like the entire property was tailored for Banky and Adesua to make romantic memories, with its breath-taking scenery that created an ambiance of romance and royalty. The couple were surrounded by family and close friends, the likes of Funmi Wellington, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, Ihuoma Ejiofor, Noble Igwe and a whole lot of other celebrities who shared in their joy.

Its location was perfect. It takes 34 minutes to travel from Cape Town International Airport to Camps Bay. Approximate driving distance between Cape Town International Airport and Camps Bay is 29 kms or 18 nautical miles. Upmarket Camps Bay is a comfortable suburb in Cape Town that draws a crowd and a large amount of tourists to itself. It is known for its fine white sand, natural rock swimming pool and views of the Twelve Apostles Mountains. Behind Camps Bay beach are posh seafood restaurants, mellow cafes and cocktail bars with patios overlooking the shores. Close to it are malls with boutiques that sell fashion and beachwear, while the intimate Theatre on the Bay stages drama, musicals and comedy.

The Roundhouse building also functions as a hotel, dance hall and, most famously, Lord Charles Somerset’s hunting lodge. Its history of luxury and hospitality is still fundamental in Cape Town and the whole of South Africa today. It offers its guests an extraordinary cuisine, fine wine and spirits, with an exceptional service.

Reception venue: THE WESTIN HOTEL, CAPE TOWN

The Westin Hotel Cape Town gave the wedding guests memorable experiences. The distance to the hotel isn’t a long journey from the Cape Town International Airport and guests could reach by rental car, shuttle service, or taxi in approximately 20 minutes. The hotel has exclusive rooms with unique views over the V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain. Westin hotel’s fantastic glass façade allows clear views of the magnificent beauty of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and the whole of Table Bay.

Besides the large variety of restaurants in Cape Town, The Westin hotel has a great selection of elegant restaurants and bars on offer, from brassiere-style Thirty7 to ON19 with its extensive views. Also, some of the largest and most sophisticated hotel conference and banqueting facilities in the city is found in the Westin Hotel where the reception took place.

They experienced a wonderful Cape Town evening to round off a glamorous wedding in the Westin hotel bars; Louis B’s & Terrace and Raleigh’s Cigar Bar, and geared up for a vacation filled with adventure.

A Toast to the Good Life: South Africa’s Winery and Winelands http://somesolutions.online/2017/11/20/a-toast-to-the-good-life-south-africas-winery-and-winelands/ http://somesolutions.online/2017/11/20/a-toast-to-the-good-life-south-africas-winery-and-winelands/#respond Mon, 20 Nov 2017 14:33:58 +0000 http://somesolutions.online/?p=4973

It should be in the constitution that there are other activities that can be done with your significant other apart from going to the movies, clubbing and dinner when on vacation.

Exploring winelands is one of the underappreciated and underrated activities, over the years, as more people are beginning to love the world of wine, they’ve been more interested in learning the process. South Africa has become one of the most visited destination in Africa, with numerous fun activities – beaches, theme parks, museums, wine tours – to boast about.

Wine tourism in South Africa has become one of the most interesting sector in tourism, generating over R5 billion and also creating employment opportunities. South Africa has an array of wine activities to choose from – wine tasting, picnic lunch and dinners, wine tram tour and wine festivals.

WINE TASTING

Vineyards, vineyards, vineyards!! Vineyards are always the go- to for wine tasting, but restaurants have now found its way to enter that segment I.e. The Table, Franschhoek Kitchen, Fryndraai Restaurant, Readers restaurant and many more. As for vineyards, Tokara prides itself on making wines that are specific to three wine producing regions and offers a gallery of fine art and Jordan Wine Estate offers wine tasting packages and experience that includes sips from Chameleon range wines, Estate varietals, Reserve wines, Bradgate, Jardin label and so much more.

If you would love to taste the South Africa’s produced wines, look out for Methode Cap Classique, sparkling wine similar to Champagne or the Pinotage, a red wine made from a grape that is a mix of Cinsaut and Pinot Noir

Here are some of the tips to make sure you have an incredible time on your wine tasting adventure – book tastings beforehand, be open to trying new wines, do not drink coffee, gum or lemon water right before wine tasting, it ruins the taste.

PICNIC LUNCH/DINNERS

Picnics are the best things to do during the summer time, you get to sit down and reflect without worrying about the cold.

Picnics have become really popular amongst wine farms. Boschendal wine farm boasts some of the best picnic spots around, the wine farm recently launched 2 new picnic experiences – Rose Garden Picnic with amazing views of the mountains , exhibition vineyards, the Rhone Homestead, the Cellar Door and picnic baskets that include food made from the natural farm produce and Werf Farm Picnic with hammocks, bean bags and giving guests the opportunity to bring their blankets, chair and tables to enjoy the and acres of scenic gardens, the new jungle gym and child care services enabling the younger one to create their own memories while the adults enjoy their time on tasting tours .On the countryside, Budmarsh Country Lodge in Johannesburg, in which everything is arranged for you.

WINE TRAM TOUR

You might not want to sit around with bae at a picnic, sipping wine and eating, that’s fine. You can be adventurous enough to go on the wine tram tour. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop- on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover Franschhoek Valley – scenic vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine and fine wines. Located in the Groot Drakenstein Mountains, the Franschhoek Wine Route is considered South Africa’s gourmet capital.

Franschhoek translates to “French Corner”, and the entire region has hints of its French beginnings, and you will experience an extensive French influence in the wine making. You can have a top-notch experience as you go through the vineyards in an open side tram and open-air tram bus viewing some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. At each stop, there are activities offered to passengers i.e. wine tasting, lunch, a stroll through the vineyards.

WINE FESTIVALS

At food and wine festivals in South Africa, there are arrays of life changing taste buds’ experiences –from munching on world beating cheese, to fresh fruits and vegetables and Karoo lambs, seafood and venison to sipping hundreds of the country’s finest and tastiest wines.

The best part of it all is that the festivals are seasonal and usually happens all year round in different cities. Around the holiday period, the most popular festivals are the RMB Wine Festival, Sandton and Summer Wine Festival, Johannesburg going from 25th to 27th of October and 4th of November respectively. At wine festivals, there are over 60 wine producers presenting more than 400 wines and associated products – reds, whites, bubblies, brandies, craft gins and so much more. This is the perfect activity for couples as they can eat all sorts and get drunk on wine and love.

THE SOUTH AFRICAN EMBASSY CELEBRATES WOMEN’S MONTH IN LAGOS, NIGERIA http://somesolutions.online/2017/09/06/the-south-african-embassy-celebrates-womens-month-in-lagos-nigeria-2/ http://somesolutions.online/2017/09/06/the-south-african-embassy-celebrates-womens-month-in-lagos-nigeria-2/#respond Wed, 06 Sep 2017 11:32:22 +0000 http://somesolutions.online/?p=4756 Consul General, Darkey Africa

On Friday, 25th of August, Federal Place Hotel was agog with lively activity, as the South African Embassy in Nigeria celebrated Women’s month.  For South Africans, it’s the year of celebrating the life and legacy of O.R. Tambo and the Embassy invited media partners, and stakeholders to share in the celebrations.

The National Women’s Day is a South African public holiday celebrated annually on 9 August. However, the entire month of August is celebrated as women’s month. The month commemorates the 1956 march of 20 000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country’s pass laws that required South Africans defined as “black” under The Population Registration Act to carry a pass, that served to maintain population segregation. The first National Women’s Day was celebrated on 9 August 1994.

The Federal palace doors opened to welcome guests and delegates led by Consulate General Darkey Africa, NANTA president Mr. Bankole Bernard, Mr. Zom Chizura, Ms. Arese Ugwu, Ms Ayanda Mzulwini amongst others. Mr Oluwaseyi Adegoke Adeyemo of Inside Watch Africa compered the event, firstly paying homage to the women who have paved the way for parity and who continue to do so. Arese Ugwu, the author of Smart Money Africa, spoke at the event discussing the evolution of generational women over the years.

Africa is the next frontier but in order for African women to be a significant part of that growth story we need to learn how to collaborate to compete” – Arese Ugwu

Mr Darkey Africa, South Africa’s Consul-General in Lagos participated actively in the struggle against Apartheid and is passionate about the struggle for equality at all levels.

Discussing the struggle for equality in the South African government, Consulate General, Darkey Africa explained that Women’s month had a deeper meaning for him. He mentioned that “the views of the generation of 1956 is about us being one society: a society constituted by both men and women and South Africa wants women to participate more in the government. At the moment, we are striving for 50/50 parity: women and men rights to be equal in terms of our policies, we already have women massed at the local and government level”.

Mr. Africa also stressed that Nigeria and South Africa must continue to unite and celebrate through, culture, traditions and the arts.

The event ended with a toast and cutting of the cake by South African Embassy Corporate Service Manager, Ms. Ayanda Mzulwini, entertainment and lots of refreshment. As a support of the female empowerment, solidarity and strength, South Africa came to Lagos, Nigeria to share Women’s day and it was a day of joy and celebration as the South African Embassy alongside partners to honor the role of women in our society.
